子供の成長を祝う、七五三。日本の秋の風物詩ともいえる行事ですよね。子供にしてみたら「なぜこんな行事があるの？」と思うかもしれません。
この記事では親子から子へ、子から孫へ七五三の風習を伝えていけるようにその内容をおさらいするとともに、由来や千歳飴などを20選の英語フレーズで説明してみました。
日本の文化と英語の両方を学ぶ絶好の機会になればと思います。改めて七五三の説明をするとなると、案外知らないことも少なくないので分かりやすく説明できるよう、日本語でおさらいしながら、英語フレーズを覚えて下さいね。

1, 七五三とは？
1, Shichi-go-san literally means seven, five and three.
七五三は、文字通り7，5，3を意味します。

七五三は子供の成長を祝い、将来の健康を願う日本の伝統的な儀式です。

日本人は大昔から7、5、3を縁起の良い数字とみなしてきました。

神社に参拝すると、紅白に染められた細長い棒状の千歳飴をもらえることがあります。
18, "Chitose" literally means one-thousand years, and this traditional candy signifies a long life for the child.
「千歳」には長い年月という意味があり、子どもが健康で長生きして欲しい、という願いが込められています。
19, Chitose ame candy comes in a paper bag with cranes, turtles, pine, bamboos and plums—all items traditionally known to bring good fortune.
千歳飴は縁起が良いとされている鶴や亀、松竹梅などが描かれた紙袋に入っています。
